About City  About Guanajuato
CIMAT is located in Guanajuato, Mexico, approximately 200 miles northwest of Mexico City.  Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range, Guanajuato is a charming, traditional city with a population just over 150,000.  The historic city center was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and boasts plazas, colonial-era architecture, and museums.

Academic Programs Academics and Courses
Through an agreement with the University of Guanajuato, CIMAT offers undergraduate courses in Mathematics and Computer Science.  Courses at the graduate level are offered in a variety of subject areas, including Applied Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, and Computer Science.  CIMAT provides infrastructure to support the research of its students and maintains computer labs and library resources specially equipped for assignments and research projects.

To enhance the development of young scientific talent, CIMAT also organizes various mathematical and computational competitions for undergraduate and graduate students. Over the years, CIMAT has also enhanced its academic environment through the organization of seminars, international conferences, and workshops.
For more information, visit the Academic Programs webpage.
Housing Housing
CIMAT does not provide any assistance with housing.  Students are, therefore, advised to make their own housing arrangements approximately 1-2 months prior to their exchange semester.
Student Visa Student Visa
Depending on nationality and length of stay, exchange students accepted to study at CIMAT will typically need to obtain a visa.  The institution’s academic coordinator will provide immigration guidance prior to the exchange semester. Since visa rules and regulations change frequently, consult the nearest Mexican embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information.
