JSOM departmental study abroad approval must be obtained through the JSOM Study Abroad office to participate in this exchange program. Complete the online JSOM Approval Form to be considered.

This exchange program is currently only open to students in the Jindal School of Management (JSOM).  If space is available, others may be considered.

SJTU is located in Shanghai, a global financial center and a world cosmopolitan city. Its two main campuses are located in the Minghang district on the outskirts of Shanghai and in the Xuhui area in the city center, both of which are easily accessible by public transportation. Shanghai itself is a vibrant, modern city with numerous local attractions and is well-connected to all major cities within China. Studying in Shanghai gives students a chance to experience the city’s uniqueness, culture, and history, where western culture meets traditional Chinese culture.

Academic Programs Academics and Courses
Exchange students can choose from a variety of courses offered at the undergraduate and graduate level within the Antai College of Economics & Management. A list of courses taught in English will be provided prior to the semester of exchange.  To view a list of courses offered in previous semesters, visit the ACEM Downloads webpage.

SJTU offers beginner's Chinese language courses to complement students' academic study.  Exchange students are also encouraged to participate in student societies and organized cultural activities, including a buddy program, calligraphy, a traditional tea experience, and art classes.

Exchange students at SJTU can choose from a variety of accommodation options, including on-campus dorms, homestays with a local family, and off-campus accommodation. The International Student Service Center will contact students with more information about accommodation options once officially accepted to the program.

Student Visa Student Visa
Depending on nationality and length of stay, exchange students accepted to study at SJTU will typically need to obtain a student visa prior to their arrival in Shanghai.  The type of visa required will depend on the length of stay:
  • X1 Visa: Long term study visa, for stays more than 180 days.
  • X2 Visa: Short term study visa, for stays less than 180 days.
Since visa rules and regulations change frequently, consult the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information.
