Program Overview This program will provide students a three week experience to live and study at South East University in Nanjing, China where students will:
  • Attend immersion Chinese language courses and hands-on workshops.
  • Experience cultural and social activities with local Chinese students.
  • Visit places with cultural and historical significance.
Program Requirements
  • Must be willing to participate in all study abroad activities and comply with requirements
  • Must be a current UT Dallas student who meets at least one of the following requirements:
    • Have taken at least one semester of credit or non-credit Chinese language or / culture classes (Kung Fu, calligraphy, etc.) at UTD before leaving.
    • Have taken HSK Test (Chinese Language Proficiency Test) and received a fair score (HSK Test Certificate is needed as proof);
    • Any proof of Chinese language proficiency that is enough for basic simple daily communication. Please contact Ms. Bei Chen for the language proficiency interview.
  • Healthy enough for international travel
Visa Application Items due to Confucius Institute by February 15, 2017
  • Visa application form: typed, hard copy, the electronic copy and hand-written copy are not accepted.
  • A check $190 payable to Gateway Travel or GTT
  • 1 passport photo 2*2
  • Invitation letter from South East University
  • A copy of your driver license
  • Your ACTUAL valid passport (it should be valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled entry date into China, it should have at least 2 blank pages—one to affix the China visa sticker and one for an entry/exit/security check stamp.)
  • Proof of employment if you currently work, i.e.: business card or badge copy.
  • If you are under 18, you also need to provide the certificate of birth, as well as the copy of your mother or father’s passport.
