Cost of Living
Living costs will vary depending on individual lifestyle expectations. A basic student budget is estimated to be HK$4,500 (per month) including meals, transport, laundry and education expenses for books and stationery.

About Hong Kong
Situated at the south-eastern tip of mainland China and in the heart of Asia, Hong Kong enjoys an economic and strategic importance that exceeds its geographical size in an area of only 1,105 square kilometres. Hong Kong (pop. 7.5 million) is a densely populated city, comprising Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories. The average population density is 6,620 people per square kilometre (as of mid-2012). Nonetheless, Hong Kong is also known for its beautiful and well-managed country parks and greens, located mainly in the New Territories and 262 outlying islands.

CityU offers courses in a variety of subject areas within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), including public policy, Asian studies, and applied social sciences. Most inbound exchange students take 4-5 courses (12-15 credits) per semester.
English is the teaching medium at most universities, including CityU, but both Chinese and English are the official languages in Hong Kong. English is widely used within the government and also by the legal, professional and business sectors.

The Student Residence Office provides on-campus accommodation for almost 3,700 students. Most of the residence halls cluster at Cornwall Street, forming a complex of student dormitories about 10 minutes away from main campus on foot.
Students should contact the Student Residence Office and apply for housing by the posted deadlines due to very limited residence places and increasing demand.
